15 DIY Paper Plant Ideas

Image source: Apple of my DIY

I can never have enough plants around the home, they are the perfect way to add life and happiness to any space. If you’re like me though this ‘life’ only lasts 6 months tops as I am the ultimate accidental plant serial killer (no really… I’ve killed 2 yukkas recently…they’re meant to be indestructible!) But never fear fellow plant murderers, there’s a new craft trend here to save the day – paper plants.

From the incredibly life-like to the fun and abstract, paper plants are taking over. Plant them in a real plant pot to finish off the look or craft one from paper too. They’re much more fun than artificial plants and cost barely anything to make. Here’s my round up of 15 fave ideas that have left me feeling inspired.

Fave 10 gift tags

With the recent launch of my new shop The Chaos Club I’m finding myself completely obsessed with cool gift tags. I can’t believe I haven’t stocked up sooner. Such an easy way to add some instant love to your gift wrap and it’s the best feeling giving someone a gift that looks just as fun as what’s inside! It’s also a nice little keepsake – I have a few cute gift tags hanging in my home office that were given from loved ones.

I’m a big fan of crafting up my own tags too (of course) but I’m a bigger sucker for store-bought paper goods.

Here’s my fave 10 of the moment. Do you know of some other treasure trove sites for buying gift tags?? Let me know below!

Fiona x

  1.  A simple and stylish option available from Lark. Love a bit of gold foil.

  2.  These tags from Sweet William are actually available in a pack with this gorgeous gift wrap via Hardtofind – winning!

  3. Simple graph prints are sometimes all it takes. Would look so cool wrapped with bright twine! These are from Spin Spin in Melbourne.

  4. Knot&Bow are one of the biggest pioneers for bright, simple gift tags. Buy them alone or in a pack like this one here.

  5. Yes I have shamelessly plugged some from my own store The Chaos Club! I think if you’re not your own biggest fan, you’re doing it wrong! haha These are our Licorice Allsorts tags which can be found here.

  6. It would be criminal to not include Rifle Paper Co in this round up – only one of my fave paper goods brands ever. Available via Notemaker here.

  7. This wooden gift tag from the lovely ladies at Light&co is such a cool alternative to the usual paper tags! Leave as is or paint up a fun pattern.

  8. Bespoke Letterpress are leading the game with cool letter-pressed paper goods and I’m especially digging this happy dude.

  9.  What’s not to love about watermelons?! I hope this trend never dies. These are from The Chaos Club too.

  10. Can’t go wrong with a watercolour geometric print from Lauren Merrick.

Sooo.. I have some BIG news. If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen it… I have opened an online paper party goods store with my long-time friend Anita, and it’s up and running! Meet, The Chaos Club It’s full of happy colourful goodness and is my favourite design style all wrapped up in a perfect little package.

We’re really excited to be filling a big gap in the market for stylish, quirky paper party goods. We love novelty shapes and fun colour so I think this will definitely be a big theme in our collections. I’m so in love with our first ranges and can’t WAIT to start showing you all the other designs we are working on behind the scenes. If you enjoy novelty shapes, crazy bright colour and clean lines as much as we do, you are probably going to self-combust!

I met Anita over 10 years ago when we both worked for a small wholesale business in Adelaide before I split to Sydney and she ended up in Melbourne. She’s a hilarious lass with the most colourful and fun wardrobe and house you’ll ever see. I dare you to show me someone with more fruit-themed decorative items squished into one bedroom! When I decided one spontaneous day last year that I wanted to finally launch my own shop I knew she was the one to partner with me, and one text message later, that was that – we both latched onto this plan like it was made of gold and haven’t stopped being crazy excited since. With her background in design and my obsession with paper goods + background in PR, it was a perfect match and I’m really excited to see where this takes us!

Come follow us over on Instagram to keep updated with our latest and greatest, and you an check out all the items in our shop here: thechaosclub.etsy.com

I would really love to hear what you think, please drop a comment below! Also if you can think of some fun designs you think we should do, let me know!

fave small storage finds

I’m completely crushing on these tiny storage ideas for your jewellery and trinkets. No point hiding your pretty favourites away – get some jewellery for your jewellery and celebrate them in style with pieces worthy of prime position on your dresser.

I think a DIY trinket dish might need to be on the cards shortly, but, until then, I’ll drool over these stunners:

  1. Norsu Interiors have just launched these amazing trays in store. I’m definitely a sucker for a gold and pastel combo with a Scandi vibe.

  2. Uashmama are the folks who started the big trend of these rustled paper storage bags, and sometimes you just can’t beat an original. Especially love this metallic gold. These would be perfect for holding your chunky bangles or daily beauty products.

  3. Hayden Youlley makes these beautiful geometric bowls by hand in Sydney. I’ve been coveting one or two for some time now. One day.. one day.

  4. Never again will your rings look so adorable. This popsicle ring dish from Urban Cave has me all over it.

  5. This Pentacle Deco Box from Amalfi would make for a gorgeous way to store your bibs and bobs. Could even hang a couple from the ceiling above it to make a real feature out of it.

  6. Absolutely LOVE  this painterly patterned jewellery box from West Elm. My jewellery would have some hefty competition in the love department.

Have an amazing weekend all. I’m off to Melbourne and can’t wait to do a bit of exploring!
